The Brost Foundation has launched a new series, “Fragen eines lesenden Schauspielers” [“Questions From a Reading Actor”]. In it, Dietmar Bär, actor and passionate reader, turns his attention to literature from the Ruhr region, talking to authors whose works are closely connected with the area. He begins the series at lit.RUHR in conversation with Lisa Roy, whose highly acclaimed debut “No Good Story” is set in the Katernberg district of Essen. She tells the story of Arielle Freytag, who, following a breakdown, returns to the place where she grew up. She finds herself facing not only her past, but also painful family history. A brutally honest, haunting novel about origins, identity and disappearance. Lisa Roy talks to Dietmar Bär about writing in the Ruhr region, about her characters and about how biographies are shaped by places. The series invites us to rediscover the region as a wide-ranging literary landscape.
Registration: By submitting the form, your registration is binding. As places are limited, you will receive confirmation/rejection by email from us by September 24, 2025. Please also check your spam folder.
