About Dietmar Bär

Dietmar Bär, born in 1961, is a stage, film and television actor. Bär became well-known as the Cologne “Tatort” police inspector Freddy Schenk, a role for which he received the German Television Award in the year 2000. In 2012, he received the Golden Camera as Best Actor for “Kehrtwende” and in 2017 he won the Bernhard Minetti Prize. Dietmar Bär is also known to audiobook fans as the narrator of German-language versions of works by authors Håkan Nesser and Stieg Larsson. In 2015, together with Klaus J. Behrendt, he received the Order of Merit of North-Rhein Westphalia for his volunteer work with the non-profit children’s rights organization Tatort-Straßen der Welt e.V. In 2021, he appeared in the six-part ARD miniseries “Little America.”
