Alex Schulman: June 17th. With Fabian Busch
“It is as if everything that Alex Schuman previously wrote was paving the way for this novel”, wrote Swedish newspaper Gefle Dagblad about the new book from the bestselling author of “The Survivors”. In June 17th, we meet protagonist Vidar at a very low point in his life. After being suspended from his teaching job, he is aimless and trying to kill time at home. One day, he impulsively dials the number of his family’s old summer house and this changes everything: His dead father answers the phone. Soon, Vidar realizes that at the other end of the line, it is always the same day of his childhood (June 17, 1986). With each call, he tries to retrace his family’s every move on that day. As Vidar crosses boundary after boundary, going back into his childhood, the noose tightens in the present.
