About Anthony McCarten
Novelist and screenwriter Anthony McCarten was born in 1961 in New Plymouth, New Zealand. When he was just 25 years old, he and his friend Stephen Sinclair wrote “Ladies Night”, a worldwide theater hit that won the Molière Prize. He later wrote novels such as “Death of a Superhero” and “The English Harem”, and screenplays, including “The Theory of Everything”, which won a BAFTA Award, and “Darkest Hour”, a film starring Gary Oldman. McCarten lives in London. His latest work, the narrative non-fiction book “The Pope”, was published in 2019.
