For nearly 40 years, on an unremarkable street in Cologne, people have stood for hours, trying to peek through a curtained window and waiting to be let into a magical world. “Le Moissonnier” is unusual among Michelin-starred restaurants in many ways, as well as being the scene of countless incredible tales. The story told in Ein Tisch am Fenster [“A Table by the Window”], by Vincent Moissonnier and Bert Gamerschlag, has all the elements of a modern-day fairytale: a humble idea, the hurdles faced by Vincent and Liliane when starting their own business in a foreign country, the arduous climb to the top, and the magic of success. In conversation with Frank Schätzing, they share tales of their noteworthy guests, the adventurous side of working with people in gastronomy, and the foundations of haute cuisine. They make indulgence and good taste accessible while shining a light on a special location. Reading by: Peter Lohmeyer
