About Jan Weiler

Jan Weiler was born in Düsseldorf in 1967. He started out working as an advertising copywriter and then attended the German Journalism School in Munich. He worked from 1994 until 2005 at Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, as an editor, columnist and eventually editor-in-chief. His debut novel “Maria, He Doesn’t Like the Taste” was developed from a short story that appeared in Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin in 2003. The book was the most successful German debut novel in the past 20 years and it was made into a hit film released in 2009. He followed that up with the 2005 sequel “Antonio in Wonderland”. Strangely enough, his books are not available in Italian but are translated into Korean.
