About Günter Wallraff

Born in 1942, Günter Wallraff lives and works in Cologne. He gained fame in 1977 with his undercover research inside the newsroom of the Bild newspaper (publishing “Der Aufmacher” and other books on the subject). “Lowest of the Low”, his 1985 book detailing the plight of migrant workers, was the biggest-selling non-fiction book in post-war Germany (5 million copies) and was translated into 38 languages. There was great resonance from readers and the media for his undercover reporting about precarious work in “Aus der schönen neuen Welt” (2009, 2012) and the collection “Die Lastenträger” (2014), which he edited.
