The classically trained drummer was a member of the group from 1975 until 1990. After he joined, the Düsseldorf-based quartet developed the unmistakable sound architecture that made the band so influential worldwide. Kraftwerk’s music had a profound impact on the development of hip-hop, techno and electopop. With great respect, but also with analytic clarity, Karl Bartos’s autobiography gives us fascinating insights into the inner life of a band which to this day tries very hard to remain secretive and inaccessible.
