About Christian Schärf

Christian Schärf, born in Ludwigshafen/Rh. in 1960, is a literary scholar, essayist, novelist and critic. He is a professor at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literary Studies at the University of Hildesheim, where his research focuses on the history of literary writing, the media history of literature, literary imagology and essay research. Christian Schärf also works as a freelancer for SWR and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His Nietzsche novel "Winter in Nizza" was published in 2014, his collection of essays "Der Flug der Fledermaus" in 2015 and the novel "Die Reise des Zeichners" in 2016. Most recently, the study "Die Idee des Romans" was published in 2021 and the essay "Diebe des Feuers. On poetic madness".
